C olorado’s 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office is located in beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. We are committed to our community and our mission to administer justice, advocate for victims and partner with law enforcement and citizens in this community in the deterrence and prevention of crime. The office has a staff of 250 employees comprised of attorneys, investigators, and support personnel.
Works with victims of crime, law enforcement agencies and providers to determine the eligibility for Victim Compensation. Opens and reviews applications for victim compensation and determines eligibility. Verifies claims for compensation and prepares applications for presentation to the Victim Compensation Board. Contacts service providers regarding victim’s bills and treatment. Prepares payment for providers and victims.

Education and/or
Experience:
Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Accounting, Business or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working with victims, preferably in a legal or law enforcement environment, is highly preferred.
- Skill in communicating both written and orally with individuals under stressful conditions
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and processes
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to perform data entry
- Knowledge of community resources and services
Language
Skills:
Ability to speak, read and write English clearly and fluently; secondary language beneficial; ability to read, analyze, and interpret charges, legal documents, statutes and professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, victims, law enforcement, legal professionals, and the general public.
Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute percentages.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer
Skills:
Competency with Microsoft Office, Excel, or other database software.
