Children, Youth Family Services Supervisor - Permanency

As the supervisor of the 0–3 Permanency Team, you'll lead caseworkers who support infants, toddlers, and their families through reunification efforts and, when necessary, alternate permanency planning. This role also partners with the Well Baby Court Program, requiring strong leadership, creative case planning, and collaboration with community partners to meet the unique and evolving needs of young children and their families.

You'll guide your team through complex cases involving issues such as substance use, domestic violence, abuse, and neglect while helping ensure every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, stable, and nurturing environment.

Hiring Range: $75,800.00 - $82,800.00 annually

Anticipated Hiring Rate: $79,730.56 annually

This is a child protection position; child protection includes engaging families. It is reasonable to anticipate the need for flexibility in work hours periodically to accommodate client schedules. The average workday hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am
-5:00pm. Schedule is subject to change. Hybrid schedule available upon successful completion of the probationary period; subject to change. This position will participate in an on‑call rotation.

Supervises an assigned unit of caseworkers and support staff in the Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS) Division of the El Paso County Department of Human Services (DHS) with the mission to preserve and rehabilitate families while protecting children. Oversees and coordinates the practice and primary decision‑making of child protection practices and/or coordinates the services and secondary service decisions. Coordinates with units, teams, and leadership as related to safety, permanency, and well‑being.

May be assigned to the Practice or Support & Services unit. Employment is subject to the terms, conditions, and policies detailed in the Personnel Policies Manual (PPM). This position requires regular in‑person presence as an essential job function.

• Supervises assigned caseworkers, case services aides, and administrative support staff, including conducting unit meetings, ensuring work is performed in a timely and accurate manner, and assigning duties as appropriate. Conducts performance evaluations and motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; participates in the hiring and disciplinary process.
• Communicates the mission of the unit; establishes and monitors the workflow of the unit and assigns applicable cases, assessments, services, and/or placement cases.
• Conducts and participates in staffing and consultations with caseworkers; meets with appropriate staff to discuss cases, treatment plans, problems, and issues and to address performance.
• Leads weekly unit meetings to discuss information; participates in DHS administrative meetings involving planning, decision‑making, and management. Coordinates and facilitates staff training as needed.
• Participates in case‑related staffing, court hearings, reviews, meetings, and family meetings; decides and recommends appropriate case plans and proceedings, as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and County laws, outcome measures, rules, and regulations; reviews cases to ensure case plans are developed and implemented, as assigned.
