Position Summary
In 2025, Catholic Charities opened Hunt Family Housing (HFH) on its Helen Hunt Campus, providing 24 units of transitional housing for families experiencing homelessness. We are seeking a Life Coach to work alongside families as they build stability and make progress toward safe, permanent housing.
The Life Coach provides intensive, whole-family case management, partnering with families to identify goals and address interconnected needs such as housing, employment and income, education, mental and behavioral health, parenting and family well-being, and access to community resources. Using a family-driven, strengths-based approach, the Life Coach helps families navigate periods of instability and crisis while building on their strengths and supporting measurable progress toward their goals.
Managing a caseload of approximately 7–10 families, the Life Coach develops meaningful relationships with families throughout their up to 18-month stay ough assessment, case planning, advocacy, resource connection, and ongoing support, the Life Coach helps families build stability, strengthen self-sufficiency, and move toward permanent housing. This role is well suited for someone who builds strong relationships, uses sound judgment, and wants to make a meaningful difference through trauma-informed, goal-oriented family support.
Requirements
Education & Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required. A Master’s degree in Social Work or a related behavioral-health field is preferred; pursuit of applicable licensure is a plus.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience in human services, social work, case management, or a related field is required. Experience must include foundational case management skills, including the ability to engage clients, identify needs, collaboratively establish goals, connect clients with resources and services, and support measurable progress toward those goals.
- Four or more years of directly relevant experience is preferred, particularly providing in-depth case management to individuals or families experiencing homelessness, housing instability, or crisis; supporting goal-driven progress across interconnected areas of stability; and responding effectively to complex needs.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on listening, problem solving, and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and human relations skills with the ability to form and maintain positive relationships with diverse families and colleagues.
- Ability to apply culturally appropriate skills in interactions with clients, co-workers, volunteers, partner agencies, and the community.
- Ability to complete required on-the-job training in English within established time limits, including passing training assessments and earning necessary certifications (with accommodations, if applicable).
- Basic math and analytical skills to perform calculations (e.g., budgeting, income vs. expenses, monthly vs annually) and interpret results to support case management. Training will be provided to help you assist families with budgeting during assessments.
- Ability to follow directions and interpret policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in data entry, documentation, and record-keeping.
- Computer proficiency, including word processing and detailed data entry. Ability to learn and utilize various databases.
- Knowledge of Human Services agencies in the area.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
