Leidos National Security Sector has an opportunity in the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Missile Defense mission areas. This Software Engineer-UML Modeler role includes trade studies, system engineering, model-based system engineering, portfolio analysis, software development demonstration and product testing and deployment to Cheyenne Mountain. Leidos is focused on finding the best people, processes, and tools that will provide solutions in data integration and fusion, data analytics, data mining, predictive analytics, data visualization, and decision support tools.
This position will report directly to the Chief Architect.
Primary Responsibilities- Document and communicate proposed software solutions with integrated, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast paced, highly technical environment.
- Stay up-to-date on state-of-the-art programming techniques and software technologies.
- Participate in software design and code reviews to ensure delivery of quality products and enhance skill sets.
- Ability to create software solutions utilizing established industry standards.
- Work with System Engineering Team to schedule, synchronize and execute demonstration capabilities to customers.
- Work with third-party contractors and stakeholders on any potential regression coding due to deployment delays.
- Develop Class and Sequence Diagrams in UML to align with modular design patterns.
- Redesign existing software components to allow containerization of the applications.
- Identify components which do not comply with the modularity rules and work with the developers and customer to aid in bringing the component into compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience. (Additional related experience, training, and/or certifications may substitute degree requirements).
- US Citizen;
Currently possess an active DoD Secret security clearance. - Experience in C++ and Java programming.
- Experience with UML and SysML modeling language tools.
- Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within engineering teams.
- Familiarity with Agile software development processes.
- Master's degree in associated field.
- Effective communication skills and experience managing multiple tasks.
- Experience with missile warning and missile defense.
- Understanding of missile warning message types.
- Experience understanding structure and components of monolithic applications to effectively break them down for containerization.
- Experience analyzing and improving performance of containerized applications.
