Overview
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking our next Software Developer I – Dev Sec Ops Support on the NISSC 3 program. You will help design, develop, test, and maintain software components that support both cadence‑managed and event‑driven mission deliverables. You’ll work within a secure, mission‑critical environment, applying secure coding and Dev Sec Ops practices to ensure reliability, performance, and compliance with program standards.
You will collaborate closely with systems engineering, test, and operations teams to integrate new features, resolve defects, and support software releases across the development lifecycle. You will also contribute to incident reports, maintenance records, and user documentation as needed.
- Design, develop, modify, test, and maintain software components for cadence‑managed and event‑managed program deliverables.
- Implement and support secure coding practices in alignment with Dev Sec Ops principles and cybersecurity requirements.
- Perform or support software integration activities, including troubleshooting, defect resolution, and verification/validation.
- Use version control and configuration management tools to manage source code, baselines, and releases.
- Collaborate with systems engineering and test teams to implement new features, incorporate requirements, and resolve issues.
- Document software releases, changes, and associated test results to maintain clear traceability and compliance with standards.
- Provide technical inputs for incident reports, maintenance records, and user documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and practices within the team.
- 1–3 years of experience in software development (academic + professional considered), ideally in a secure or mission‑critical environment.
- Hands‑on experience with software design, development, testing, and maintenance using modern languages and frameworks.
- Experience with software integration, troubleshooting, and use of secure coding practices.
- Experience working with or exposure to tools such as: ELMS, RTC, Jira, Confluence, Clear Case, Clear Quest, SQL or related database tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following (or closely related field):
Information Technology (IT), Cybersecurity, Computer Science (CS), Information Systems (IS), Data Science, Software Engineering OR equivalent DoD/Military training and experience in software development or related discipline. - Active Secret clearance at time of hire. Ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI as required by the program.
- One of the following is desired / strongly preferred:
- CSSLP
- GSEC
