Ground MILSATCOM Systems Test and Integration Engineer
Location:
Colorado Springs, CO. This position is for Ground Systems Test & Integration Engineer (Level 3 or
4) to lead the development of the nation’s next‑generation satellite ground mission‑planning systems. The role includes guidance, mentoring, and hands‑on development across architecture, integration, testing, and verification.
• 100% onsite. 1st shift. Responsible for planning, designing, developing, and verifying complex life‑cycle system‑of‑systems and system solutions.
• Lead major sections of the ground‑system software development staff and programs.
• Work closely with System Engineers/Analysts/Software developers, customers, users/operators, and the integrated product team.
- Define and coordinate system performance requirements; integrate technical parameters and ensure compatibility of all interfaces.
- Perform analyses for affordability, safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, security, certification, and other quality factors.
- Develop, maintain, and improve requirements management processes, tools, risk, issue, opportunity management, and technology readiness assessment processes.
- Resolve cross‑functional technical issues and support integration and test of the Ground Segment Operational Products.
- Develop and execute system integration & test plans, procedures, and reports; lead test entrance and exit reviews.
- Support the development of complex system‑level threads required to run missions in space.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship required (or clearance active within the past 24 months).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or related field.
- 5+ years of engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and experience presenting at major program reviews.
- Strong knowledge of version control, system quality attributes (testability, portability, maintainability), and agile development practices.
- Experience in software systems engineering, testing, and all aspects of test management (definition, execution, verification traceability, unit, factory, site testing).
- Experience working with satellite ground systems and the satellite operations domain.
- Proficiency with Model‑Based Engineering throughout the development lifecycle.
- Experience with Atlassian Jira and collaborating with developers using agile tools.
- Ability to travel domestically as needed.
- 9+ years of related engineering experience (Level4).
Level3 typically requires 5+ years. - Advanced technical education (ABET accredited preferred).
- Experience with Agile processes, basic orbital dynamics, RF communications, satellite links, transponder loading, military communication architectures.
- Experience with Satellite Bus and Payload Resource Management; familiarity with System Integration and Test processes.
- Operational knowledge of key MILSATCOM systems.
Pay Range
• Mid‑Level (Level3): $112,200 – $151,800
• Lead (Level4): $136,850 – $185,150
