Revenue Technician
The Revenue Technician performs complex support, technical accounting, and support work in the Revenue Division. His/her primary responsibilities include performing a variety of complex tasks of routine difficulty related to the City and County's utility billing/sales tax function and providing information and assistance to City and County staff and the public.
The incumbent exemplifies the characteristics of a collaborative, innovative and resilient work culture and along with the leadership team, models the appropriate behavior to create and maintain a resilient work culture within the department.
The incumbent provides holistic services to the public by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions and agencies. The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, agencies and the public in delivering effective and innovative services.
The total compensation package:
Salary Range: $24.61 - $33.29/hour

- Speak with customers on multi-line phone and/or in person to receive orders such as utility installation, turn-ons, discontinuation or change of service.
- Process daily deposit for the City.
- Generate and distribute weekly utility bills in a timely manner.
- Review meter readings, investigate discrepancies, and correct billing errors.
- Receive and process customer payments, adjustments, refunds and payment arrangements.
- Maintain accurate customer records and ensure data integrity within the utility billing system
- Coordinate with meter reader and field technicians to resolve account discrepancies.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and financial records.
- Monitor delinquent accounts and assist with collections, disconnections, and reconnections in accordance with utility policies.
- Perform data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Education
- High school graduate or GED equivalent; preferably with some coursework in accounting, bookkeeping, tax, or related business courses.
Experience
- 2 years increasingly responsible bookkeeping, finance, or accounting staff support experience that demonstrates applicable organizational, office and computer skills to include some experience in billing and collection.
Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience. Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience.
Necessary special requirements (in addition to above requirements):
- New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.
- If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required.
- Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday.
- The employee will operate a motor vehicle while traveling between work locations and while running errands.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, stoop or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Physical demands are described as light (exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Data entry and other tasks may require sitting at a computer for several hours.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
