Senior Payroll Specialist Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely payroll for union and non-union employees
  • Manage certified payroll requirements and related reporting
  • Apply applicable union wage rates, benefits, deductions, and payroll provisions
  • Prepare required union and payroll reports
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records
  • Process payroll adjustments, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and other payments
  • Review payroll information for accuracy and regulatory compliance
  • Reconcile payroll activity and resolve discrepancies
  • Respond to employee payroll questions
  • Coordinate with internal departments regarding employee and payroll changes
  • Assist with payroll-related audits and compliance requests
  • Maintain organized documentation and effective internal controls
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency

Senior Payroll Specialist Qualifications

  • 5+ years of payroll experience
  • Certified payroll experience required
  • Union payroll experience required
  • Experience working with union wage rates, deductions, and benefit contributions
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Strong payroll-system and Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage deadlines and confidential information
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation is helpful but not required
