Essential Job Functions

  • Provide administrative support for the Fire Marshal’s Office and perform computer‑related tasks requiring broad working knowledge of a wide variety of standard computer applications.
  • Receive and respond to inquiries, concerns and complaints from department staff members, other county departments, outside entities and the general public; provide resolution or direct the inquiry to the appropriate individual.
  • Maintain and update complex filing and cross‑reference/index systems for all documents, records and/or reports; process public records requests within scope of authority; prepare records for storage and maintain tracking database.
  • Schedule and confirm appointments and meetings; maintain appointment calendar.
  • Enter and retrieve technical information from the computer in order to perform research, update records, process transactions or respond to requests for information.
  • Receive and review various reports, records, documents, etc.; verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Supplemented by two or more years responsible work experience demonstrating ability to perform essential functions of the work.
  • Additional college level education is preferred and may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
  • Work experience must demonstrate computer literacy with standard software packages.
  • Prefer experience in a municipal or other public agency that provides broad knowledge of public administration systems or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
