POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs administrative and accounting functions using established procedures in support of Public Works operations. Supports cross-functionally across office roles and responsibilities, when needed, using independent judgment in decision-making situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES- Front face to Rio Blanco County public to answer Public Works questions and direct complaints.
- Utilize a variety of applications/systems to track and manage Public Works inventory, budget and Fleet operations; support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and inventory. Support other Public Works departments, as needed.
- Support payroll functions for the department including job costing data, equipment repairs, and inventory management. Ensure completeness and accuracy of employee accruals and overtime.
- Perform accounts payable activities including preparation of payment vouchers and ensuring proper allocation to inventory, equipment, projects, repair orders, etc. and manage timely receipt of Fleet payments.
- Ensure staff schedules are up-to-date, including, but not limited to, landfill, on-call, and snow plow routes.
- Work on assignments that are complex in nature where considerable judgment, analysis, and initiative are required in resolving problems and making decisions.
- Support Administrative III with office coverage, employee certification/files documentation retention and organization.
- Support, as backup and assess for suitability and assign all transport permits.
- Ensures departmental and county programs and policies are supported and followed.
- Ability to cross-train on assigned activities.
- Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word
- Basic accounting skills
- Adept in working across multiple applications/systems and databases including data entry, tracking, reporting and analysis
- Working experience with cloud applications
- Operation of a computer with standard and specialized software; ability to learn new software quickly
- Strong oral and written skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Team player
- Strong work ethic and personal integrity; ability to maintain confidentiality.

Experience:
Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- High school diploma or equivalent; degree preferred
- 1-2 years office experience.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
- The majority of work is performed in a normal office environment.
- Must be able to occasionally lift 25 lbs.
