Assessor – Administrative Technician I-III

General

Purpose:

Under general supervision, the Administrative Technician—I, II, or III performs administrative work to promote and maintain continuity with procedures and processes within the Assessor’s office. This role requires maintaining a high level of customer service and completing research on documents. The entry‑level Technician I focuses on routine tasks, while Technicians II and III handle more complex projects and may lead teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Administrative Technician I
  • Assist the public at the counter, by telephone and email promptly.
  • Process daily transfers from recording searches of ownership and titles.
  • Maintain subdivision and metes‑and‑bounds official records.
  • Process maps for metes and bounds properties.
  • Assist the public and appraisers during appeals.
  • Create mailing labels, sales reports, subdivision reports, and other reports as requested by customers and the Administrative Supervisor.
  • Run reports and gather data for the Assessor’s office and other departments within Park County, and provide information to other State and Federal agencies.
  • Research issues with land, title, and ownership.
Administrative Technician II
  • All duties performed by Technician I.
  • Perform special projects and tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Administrative Technician III
  • All duties performed by Technicians I and II.
  • Assist in the process of personal property.
  • Act as a lead to other Administrative Technicians and assist in training.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the duties of a Colorado Assessor’s Office.
  • Ability to communicate complicated and occasionally upsetting information to taxpayers effectively.
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical and geometry principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to monitor and review own work for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ability to multi‑task and plan and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to adapt to frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze information.
  • Ability to follow procedures and policies.
  • Ability to react under pressure in a professional manner and approach difficult situations tactfully.
Nature Of Contact With Others

This position interacts daily with internal staff, other county staff, citizens, government agencies, and businesses to provide administrative support and answer questions.

Responsibility For Property, Materials, Money, And Confidential Information

Responsible for the confidentiality of information related to routine duties. Equipment used includes personal computer, copy machine, printer, county vehicle, maps, camera, telephone, calculator, and microfiche viewer. Confidentiality is governed by the Colorado Open Records Act.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

Employees regularly talk or hear; walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach, and occasionally stand or lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work involves a mix of desk work and counter service with required equipment usage.

Qualifications Administrative Technician I
  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a Colorado Assessor’s Office or a related field (real estate or construction industry preferred).
  • Must complete required training within 1 year:
    Basic Title Conveyance and Advanced Title Conveyance.
Administrative Technician II
  • Must be proficient in Performing Level I duties.
  • Must have completed Level I required training or have equivalent experience in title conveyance.
  • Must complete required training within 1 year:
    Introduction to Assessment.
Administrative Technician III
  • Must be proficient in Performing Level I and II duties.
  • Must have completed Level I or II training or have equivalent experience in title conveyance and assessment principles.
  • Must have completed or will complete personal property tax courses within 1 year (Basic Personal Property, Advanced Personal Property, and/or Possessory Interest).
  • Minimum five years experience in a Colorado Assessor’s office or in the real estate or construction industry.
Special Requirements
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
