Founded in Houston in 1983, the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Texas (SACC-Texas) is a state-wide business network with local chapters in Austin, Dallas and Houston. SACC-Texas’ local chapters work both individually and jointly to promote trade and investment between Sweden and Texas. The Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce Texas is one of 18 Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce in the USA, working to facilitate and increase business between Texas and Sweden.

We facilitate tailored business meetings, assist with transatlantic internships, host delegations, organize speaker events, and create networking opportunities. Job Description

This six-month Business Development internship is full-time and offers hands‑on experience in business development, partnerships, and international business in Texas, one of the fastest-growing business regions in the United States. We are looking for four new Business Development interns to join the Austin office.

Interns work closely with the Board of Directors and chapter leadership while being responsible for executing the Chamber’s initiatives, events, and daily operations. As an intern, you play an important role in supporting the growth, effectiveness, and long‑term success of SACC‑Texas.

The Business Development Intern supports the Chamber’s growth and day‑to‑day operations with a focus on business development, partnerships, and events. The role includes identifying and reaching out to potential new individual and corporate members, initiating contact, following up on leads and supporting the onboarding of new members.

Interns are also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with existing members, corporate partners, sponsors, ensuring strong engagement and long‑term value creation. In addition, the role includes planning and executing business‑focused events from start to finish, working with venues, speakers, sponsors, partners, supporting event marketing and follow‑up.

Beyond business development and events, interns contribute to strategic and operational initiatives aimed at strengthening SACC‑Texas as an organization. This includes supporting improvements to internal processes, assisting with administrative tasks, and collaborating closely with board members across the Austin, Dallas, and Houston chapters.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a university program or graduated within a relevant field of study.
  • Swedish citizenship or strong ties to Sweden (for U.S. visa purposes).
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in both Swedish and English.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Interested in business development, sales, partnerships, or strategy.
  • Structured, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable communicating with professionals and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience from student organizations, startups, consulting, sales, or marketing.
  • Previous international experience (academic or professional).
  • Sales experience, marketing experience and/or event planning experience.
  • Project management and leadership experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Interest in international business and cross‑border relations.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
Benefits

This six‑month internship starts in August 2026. The internship does not provide monetary compensation as SACC‑Texas is a non‑profit organization; however, as an intern abroad, you can apply for scholarships. Depending on the university program, some students may also be eligible for student aid from CSN. SACC‑USA will assist with the visa application process. To be eligible for a J‑1 visa, you must be a Swedish citizen.
