Building & Zoning Inspector

The New Castle Building Department is seeking a customer focused Building & Zoning Inspector to assist with administration and enforcement of Town building and zoning codes.

• Review building plans for compliance with building codes and zoning ordinances.
• Conduct field inspections of construction sites, facilities, and existing structures.
• Administer permits and ensure code compliance for residential and commercial projects.
• Coordinate with contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and the public on code matters.
• Assist with future land use planning, department budgeting, records management, and code updates.
• Document findings and provide recommendations to maintain compliance.

• Knowledge of construction practices and ICC building codes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in office and field environments.
• Experience in residential or commercial construction, inspections, or related fields.
• ICC Building Inspector certification (IRC or IBC) required to be obtained within six months of hire.
• Eligibility for full-time position with Monday–Friday schedule.

Salary range: $72,000 to $82,000 DOQ
