The Asphalt Raker works with rakes to level the asphalt mix correctly as it leaves the asphalt paving screed and is ready for rolling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
- Work quickly, productively and safely to meet production goals as outlined by the Foreman, Superintendent and/or Production Manager.
- Follow direction of the Foreman and/or Superintendent regarding daily production schedule and activities.
- Advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in job‑site and safety meetings and all company related training.
- Ensure job‑site is safe and traffic is controlled prior to commencing work.
- Communicate effectively with operators, truck drivers, and general laborers.
- Inspect, clean and maintain equipment and machinery.
- Report problems and malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or shop personnel.
- Set up and tear down equipment.
- Maintain a clean job site; pick up all tools and secure the job site each day.
- Understand material handling and storage in compliance with SDS sheets.
- Coordinate and work with contractors, subcontractors and vendors to complete job.
- Serve as front‑line company representative and provide excellent service to customers and the public.
- Use equipment and hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, etc.
- Perform all general labor work as needed.

- Safety‑sensitive position subject to company drug and alcohol policy and OHSA regulations.
- Employees must wear appropriate PPE.
- Serve as safety ambassador, complying with federal, state and local laws and company safety policy.
- Requires ability to communicate verbally, read printed materials, maintain attention; lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift overhead; work in outdoor environment with variable weather.
- May be exposed to chemicals, vapors, pollutants, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles, machines, and dust/debris.
- Requires operating vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment within safety guidelines.
Full time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TravelMust be willing to travel to any and all jobsites without exception.
Minimum Qualifications- Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred. - Experience:
Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience preferred. - Language:
Ability to speak, read, and write English preferred.
- Current driver’s license preferred.
- Clean motor‑vehicle record required if operating a company vehicle.
- Pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
