Construction Estimator
We're looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to join our growing commercial construction team. In this role, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of projects, including retail, fuel centers, theaters, and other commercial facilities. You'll play a key part in the preconstruction process—analyzing plans, collaborating with subcontractors, and developing budgets that set projects up for success from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Prepare material, equipment, and labor takeoffs with precision and consistency.
- Collaborate with internal project teams, vendors, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure competitive bids.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities, constructability issues, and value engineering options.
- Develop clear, comprehensive bid proposals and present cost summaries with supporting documentation.
- Track historical costs, update pricing databases, and refine estimating methods to improve accuracy.
- Analyze differences between estimated and actual project costs to support continuous improvement.
- Work closely with project management during turnover to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3years of estimating experience in commercial or general construction.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, estimating or preconstruction software, and digital takeoff tools.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with retail, fueling stations, or big-box construction is a plus.
