Construction Project Manager
Location:
Cascade, CO Duration: 6+ months contract
Schedule:
M-F, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay Rate: $45 to 50/hr
Lead complex capital improvement projects along the challenging 20-mile Pikes Peak Highway Recreation Corridor. Manage design, construction, and closeout of civil engineering projects in extreme high-elevation conditions (snow, ice, high winds, steep terrain). Oversee contractors, consultants, and stakeholders while ensuring budget compliance and regulatory coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership (20%):
Plan and direct multi-disciplinary capital projects from initiation through closeout. Oversee design professionals, contractors, and engineers for civil engineering and infrastructure development. - Construction Management (20%):
Administer contracts, manage inspection/quality assurance, establish schedules, monitor costs, and coordinate construction teams, subcontractors, and utilities. - Documentation & Reporting (20%):
Maintain project records, prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports, develop communication plans, and provide status updates to stakeholders, City departments, and regulatory agencies. - Contract Administration (20%):
Negotiate/execute professional service and construction contracts, prepare RFQs/RFPs/IFBs, conduct pre-bid conferences, and lead project progress meetings. - Procurement & Planning (5%):
Initiate bidding processes, coordinate with management and agencies to define project scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5+ years professional experience managing capital improvement/construction projects.
- Advanced skills in project scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with construction management software a plus.
- Ability to work at 14,115 ft elevation in extreme weather (snow, ice, high winds) and steep terrain.
- Strong communication for coordinating with contractors, City departments, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
- Valid driver's license; must pass background check.
Physical Demands
- Lift 20-50 lbs occasionally; 10-25 lbs frequently.
- Work in harsh mountain conditions above treeline.
- Frequent site visits along Pikes Peak Highway (North/South Slope Recreation Areas).
Preferred Skills
- Experience managing projects in high-elevation/rugged terrain.
- Familiarity with Colorado state/federal regulations for public infrastructure.
- Supervisory experience leading project teams and consultants.
- Advanced writing for reports, RFPs, and stakeholder communications.
