Dance Instructor PT

Position Overview

General

Purpose:

This role is a Dance Instructor II position at the Recreation Center. The hiring range for this position is $17.06 – $25.86 per hour. The instructor will work from both Eagle Pointe and Bison Ridge recreation centers, teaching youth and adults of all ages in various dance styles in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

• Choreograph dance routines and lead practice sessions at the performing level under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator.
• Assist with the setup, preparation, and planning of dance classes.
• Develop and implement dance curriculum appropriate for skill levels, age groups, and class objectives.
• Create and maintain a safe, fun, and inclusive learning environment for all participants in accordance with City and Department guidelines and policies.

• Must be highly motivated and open to direction.
• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Three years of prior experience as a dancer.
• Knowledge of basic dance instruction.
• Ability to choreograph beginning level routines.
• Ability to select and cut age-appropriate music.
• Ability to demonstrate dance skills.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply operating policies and procedures.
• CPR, First Aid, Concussion Awareness and Universal Precautions certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to be trained to teach beginning class levels.

• All requirements of Dance Instructor I.
• One year of dance instruction experience.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Ability to teach intermediate level dance.
• Ability to take on leadership roles during tot and beginning/advanced beginner level classes.
• Ability to instruct other instructors teaching tot, beginning, and advanced beginner level classes.

• All requirements of Dance Instructor II.
• Mastery of the instruction of tot, beginning, advanced beginner, and intermediate dance class levels.
• Two years of dance instruction experience.
• Ability to choreograph intermediate and advanced level routines.

• All requirements of Dance Instructor III.
• Mastery of the instruction of tot, beginning, advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced level dance classes.
• Two years of experience instructing intermediate and advanced dance classes in recreation or a private studio, or two years as a City of Commerce City Dance Instructor III.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Knowledge of choreography of advanced class levels.
• Ability to help coordinate dance performances and recitals, including costume ordering, program order, and all necessary administrative functions related to performances in support of the recreation coordinator.
