Locum Physician Gastroenterology (Inpatient, Level 1 Trauma) Lakewood, CO
Looking for an experienced Gastroenterologist to provide urgent coverage for a busy Level 1 Trauma inpatient unit. This position offers a critical opportunity to join a renowned healthcare facility during peak demand, ensuring seamless patient care and supporting the hospital s ongoing coverage gaps. The role involves performing advanced procedures including ERCP, EUS, endoscopy, and managing GI bleed and other GI problems in a fast-paced environment.
Required Skills:
- Board-certified or eligible in Gastroenterology
- Proficiency in ERCP, EUS, and standard GI endoscopy procedures
- Ability to perform scope-related and advanced GI procedures
- Inpatient hospital experience, particularly in trauma settings
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- EMR experience, specifically with EPIC system
- Excellent communication and patient management abilities
- Experience with pediatric trauma (patients over 15, 50 kg)
- Prior work in Level 1 Trauma centers
- Fluency in additional languages beneficial for diverse patient groups
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from accredited institution
- Current Colorado medical license or eligible via IMLC
- Minimum of 3+ years of clinical practice in Gastroenterology, with procedural expertise
- Prior locum or hospital-based experience preferred
- Availability starting December 8, 2025, for a minimum of 5-7 days per month through early 2025, with ongoing coverage needs
- Ability to complete credentialing and EMR training before start date; credentialing period approximately 60-90 days
- Willingness to stay at preferred lodging options using negotiated rates, with local or drive-in candidates highly preferred
- Certified in EMR with EPIC experience, including completion of required modules and virtual training at least one week before first shift
- Travel from local area or drive-in preferred; specify travel details in application
- Must pass credentialing requirements, including NPDB report and Colorado licensure or IMLC active status
