Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the Year Round Manager Salary Schedule for 195 days and is based on education and experience. Starting salary range is $47,745-$70,855.

Purpose of the Job: The District Safety and Security Coordinator performs tasks in developing, implementing, and managing programs designed to address overall district safety and security needs effectively. They will oversee the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors by developing, establishing and enforcing safety and security policies, access control procedures, accident prevention efforts, threat and risk assessment efforts, fire and emergency management/response and appropriate staff safety training.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Associates Degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred

Experience: 3 or more years of successful public education safety experience, with a minimum of 2 years in an administrative capacity

Licenses/Certificates: Valid Colorado Driver’s License

Other Criteria: Successful experience as a school or district level administrator preferred

  • Must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check and be cleared
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students and the public.
  • Ability to effectively read, write, speak and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
  • Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.
  • Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of community groups and organizations
  • Demonstrated success in working as a member of a leadership team

Essential Duties of the Job

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Coordinates comprehensive district safety and security programs, policies, and procedures by studying organization operations and schedules; establishing internal controls; conducting inspections as appropriate; addressing potential hazards; creating and updating CCSD safety and security resources and emergency operations plan.
  • Collaborates with business services to provide training, investigations, and cost containment procedures for Worker’s Compensation.
  • Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state, and local regulations by studying existing and new requirements and overseeing and enforcing school-wide adherence to requirements.
  • Coordinates safety planning and practice to support academic processes of each school.
  • Conducts and coordinates safety, security, and emergency preparedness training by developing, scheduling, and/or facilitating training for staff, students, and public safety officials relating to school safety, security, and emergency preparedness.
  • District point of contact for safety related student behavior concerns.
  • Maintain updated threat and risk assessment platforms, conduct annual training on the process. Support execution of assessments and ensure follow through of documentation.
