Job Description

Colorado Mountain College (CMC) is committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. While teaching is the primary role of the faculty, our mission also includes scholarly endeavors and service activities that support our learners and community partners.

Primary Responsibilities

The faculty members of CMC are expected to be innovative facilitators of learning who actively engage in teaching, support academic opportunities for all students, and foster a positive classroom experience.

Qualifications Standards

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or be eligible for credentialing. Ideal qualifications include:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in the specific discipline or a Master’s with at least 18 graduate credits in a related field (e.g., business, finance, management, marketing or related fields).
  • Minimum of one year full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent adjunct experience; higher education teaching experience preferred.

Special skills and abilities directly applicable to the position include:

  • Knowledge of pedagogy and a minimum of two years of teaching experience.
  • Strong background in computers and technology.
  • Excellent organizational and general office skills (filing, typing, answering phones, customer‑oriented service, and attention to detail).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, and ability to research, analyze data, and work independently toward established goals and deadlines.

Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members from all backgrounds. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities are preferred.

Residency in the State of Colorado is required, and the position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $79,902.51 – $97,321.19 annually, based on education and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, pet insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, mental health resources, healthy lifestyle benefits, and potential relocation assistance. Affordable transitional housing may be available based on eligibility and availability.

Minimum Qualifications and Essential Duties

The following responsibilities and activities are listed in order to maintain consistency in the application of expectations and align job duties with evaluation and promotion procedures.

Teaching Responsibilities
  • Teach course load as assigned.
  • Evaluate courses and student learning.
  • Meet established course, program, and institutional learning outcomes.
  • Comply with department guidelines and college policies.
  • Maintain at least five office hours per week.
  • Develop rapport with students and encourage teacher/student communication.
  • Assist with academic advising of students.
  • Participate in orientation and registration activities.
Scholarly and Creative Activities
  • Continuing certification in discipline (if applicable).
  • Graduate coursework and continuing education.
  • Sharing expertise within discipline (e.g., grant writing, publishing, exhibitions, performances, presentations, conferences).
  • Attending campus and college‑wide trainings and in‑services.
  • Conducting research.
  • Developing/advancing instructional technology.
  • Other approved activities with the Assistant Dean of Instruction.
Service Activities
  • Serve on campus and college‑wide committees.
  • Represent discipline on state, national, and international levels.
  • Participate in relevant projects with administrative approval.
