Job Description: The faculty members of Colorado Mountain College are committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. Although teaching is the most important role of the faculty, the needs of our learners are also served when faculty are engaged in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities.
The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are active in the art of teaching and passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. Colorado Mountain College is an institution offering Associate and Bachelor’s degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. CMC does not conduct research but instead focuses on excellence in teaching and learning in diverse classroom settings and programs.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a passion for dynamic classroom experiences and excellent academic opportunities and student support.
- Credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed.
- Master’s Degree in the relevant subject or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a related field.
- Minimum of one year full‑time teaching experience, or equivalent as an adjunct instructor (higher education teaching experience preferred).
- Knowledge of pedagogy and teaching experience equating to two years.
- Strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational skills, general office skills (filing, typing, answering the phone, customer oriented, attention to detail).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, ability to research and analyze data, work independently toward established goals and deadlines.
- Equivalent or applicable combination of education and experience to perform duties.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
- Colorado resident and authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
Teach course‑load as assigned. Evaluate courses and student learning. Meet course, program, and institutional learning outcomes established by CMC. Comply with department guidelines and college policies. Maintain at least five office hours per week to meet with students. Develop rapport with students that is professional and encourages communication. Assist with academic advising, orientation, and registration activities.
Scholarly and Creative ActivitiesEngage in activities such as:
- Continuing certification in discipline (if applicable).
- Graduate coursework and continuing education.
- Sharing expertise within discipline (grant writing, publishing, exhibitions, performances, presentations, conferences).
- Attending campus and college‑wide trainings and in‑services.
- Conducting research, developing/advancing instructional technology.
- Other activities approved by faculty member and Assistant Dean of Instruction.
- Serve on campus and college‑wide committees.
- Represent discipline at state, national, and international levels.
- Participate in relevant projects with administrative approval.
- Mentor peers.
- Modify, develop, and maintain curriculum.
- Assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization advising, recruiting and retention.
- Attend and participate in program, discipline, in‑service, and campus meetings.
- Develop promotion portfolio.
- Participate in community service activities (as appropriate).
Report to the Dean of the School of the discipline. May supervise staff positions and/or student employees. Adhere to safety and compliance policies; background check required; may require travel, evening or weekend hours. Work involves constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, driving; frequent written and oral communication.
Benefits & Compensation- Salary range $79,902.51–$97,321.19 annual.
