Job DescriptionStipend Amount:
Starts at $2,333/year; follows coaching salary schedule
Supervisor:
Athletic Director
Estimated time commitment: 10-20 hours per week during the season (official season mid-November 2026 to February 2027)
Responsibilities- Lead Lake County School District Nordic program
- Determine training plans and locations
- Instruct in skiing skills and technique
- Wax skis for competition, and lead students in waxing for practice and storage
- Communicate positively and clearly with parents and athletes
- Complete certifications required by CHSAA and Lake County School District
- Build a positive team environment
- Promote physical fitness, sportsmanship, academic excellence and positive school behavior
- Available to work afternoons, evenings and weekends and travel with the team for meets
- Cooperate/communicate with Lake County athletic director
- Handle distribution, collection, storage, and ordering of equipment, supplies and uniforms
- Possess and maintain moral character that aligns with Board of Education expectations
- Possess ability to address first aid situations
- Represent Lake County at the Ski League Meeting (first Friday in October)
- Coaching experience preferred
- Experience working with high school students preferred
- Knowledge and experience in Nordic skiing
