Job Summary

The Libraries at CU Boulder are encouraging applications for a Library Branches Stacks & Materials Coordinator. This position is located in the Materials Management Unit of the Engaged Spaces Department. The Coordinator will manage stacks for the Business, Earth Sciences & Map, Gemmill, and Music Library locations, collaborating with Branch Operations Managers to coordinate missing/long missing searches, stack assessments, and other projects.

The role involves analyzing stack spaces, designing workflows, and implementing projects to maintain a user‑friendly environment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform analysis of stack areas based on Library of Congress shelving rules, determine tasks needed to maintain and improve non‑Norlin location book stacks, and prioritize projects with Branch Operations Managers.
  • Manage missing/long missing procedures, develop timelines, and conduct list creation and searches in FOLIO to coordinate material flows and train students to carry out searches.
  • Plan and lead projects that maintain physical stacks, including dusting, vacuuming, repair coordination, shelving shifts, call number signage updates, and inventory/shelf‑reading projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Branch Operations Managers, participate in unit, department, and library meetings, and recommend improvements to stacks and maintenance.
  • Act as a service point staffing resource for each non‑Norlin location and support services in some capacity.
  • Serve as a resource for the University Libraries on materials management and stacks organization/maintenance, pursue professional development opportunities, and serve on library‑wide groups and task forces.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; a Master of Library and Information Science can substitute for two years of experience.
  • Three years of professional experience working with library materials and/or library circulation systems.
  • Evidence of a strong service orientation and a user‑centered approach to library spaces.
  • Commitment to cultivate an inclusive and respectful environment.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and as a team.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to develop consistent processes while supporting individual collection needs.
  • Good judgment consistent with library policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of tools and approaches for conducting in‑depth space analysis.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Adept at office technologies and data management.
  • Capable of managing competing demands and responding flexibly to challenges.
  • Ability to carry out duties independently using library science principles and job‑acquired skills to solve complex problems and offer user‑centered solutions.
  • Experience working with collections or library spaces (desired).
  • Coursework or training in Library and Information Science (desired).
  • Coursework or training in User Experience (desired).
What We Offer
  • Salary: $52,000 – $56,000 per year.
  • Small relocation stipend may be available within Library guidelines.
