Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Elementary School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of students in grades K 5. The ideal candidate will build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families while implementing a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social-emotional and behavioral needs
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as emotional regulation, conflict resolution, and character development
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to support student success
- Assist in developing and implementing behavior intervention plans and MTSS processes
- Respond to crisis situations and provide appropriate support and referrals
- Promote a positive school climate and contribute to a culture of respect and inclusion
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records
- Connect families with community resources and support services
- Participate in school and district teams and professional development opportunities
- Master's degree in School Counseling or related field
- Valid Colorado School Counselor License or ability to obtain
- Experience working with elementary-aged students preferred
- Experience with MTSS and trauma-informed practices
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to working in a rural school setting and engaging with the community
