Position Summary
Western Colorado University invites applications for a non‑tenure‑track full‑time Lecturer position in English – First‑Year Writing (FYW). The appointment is in‑person, one‑year with potential renewal based on performance.
ResponsibilitiesTeach First‑Year Writing courses ENG 102:
Writing & Rhetoric I and ENG 103:
Writing & Rhetoric II, and potentially co‑requisite sections and other English courses as needed. Provide student support and academic advising for writing students. Participate in departmental service and campus activities, including recruitment, committee work, and service to the university community. Engage in professional development and maintain a record of teaching effectiveness.
- MA, MFA, PhD, or Master’s Degree with 18+ graduate hours in English, Writing Studies/Composition & Rhetoric, or comparable graduate courses.
- Excellent record of university‑level or high‑school teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.
- Willingness to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population.
Annualized salary $50,000–$51,000 depending on qualifications and experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes shared premiums for health, dental, retirement, and life insurance. After one year of employment, preferred candidates receive free tuition for dependents enrolled full‑time in undergraduate programs for up to four years. Housing assistance may be provided for new hires relocating to the Gunnison Valley.
