Position Overview
Fremont RE-2 School District is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and student-centered Special Education Paraprofessional to support students with disabilities in accessing educational opportunities and achieving their individual learning goals. This position works under the direction of licensed teachers and special education staff to provide instructional assistance, behavioral support, supervision, and student care in a variety of educational settings.

Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with students with disabilities or diverse learning needs preferred
- Ability to effectively supervise and support students with special needs
- Ability to build positive working relationships with teachers, administrators, and support staff
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and respond to individual student needs
- Willingness to participate in required training, including behavior intervention, crisis prevention, and safety procedures as required by district policy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information in accordance with FERPA and district policies
- Successful completion of required criminal background checks and fingerprinting
- Provide instructional support to students with disabilities under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Assist students in completing academic tasks and participating in classroom learning activities.
- Support teachers in delivering instructional materials, small group instruction, and individualized student support.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and instructional activities.
- Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and accommodations under the supervision of licensed staff.
- Support the implementation of student behavior support plans and participate in approved de-escalation or crisis intervention procedures when trained and directed by licensed staff.
- Follow district policies and state law regarding student safety, supervision, mandatory reporting, and the use of restraint or safety interventions.
- Assist students with mobility, positioning, and personal care needs as required, consistent with student plans and district safety procedures, and when appropriately trained.
- Follow district health protocols and support student health needs in accordance with student care plans, district procedures, and applicable public health guidance.
- Provide direct supervision of students throughout the school day in instructional and non-instructional settings.
- Assist students during classroom transitions and other school activities.
- Support students in general education, special education, and independent learning environments.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student learning and well-being.
- Maintain appropriate documentation and communication as directed by teachers or administration.
- Contribute to a positive school culture that supports student success and inclusion.
- Ability to actively supervise students throughout the school day.
- Ability to assist students with mobility, positioning, transfers, or personal care needs when required and appropriately trained.
- This position may involve supporting students with significant behavioral, mobility, or personal care needs and may require physical assistance consistent with student plans and district safety procedures.
- Work Schedule:
7.5-hour workday - Contract Length: 150 days
- School Calendar: 4-day school week
