REQUIREMENTS
  • Current valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement
  • Prior teaching experience in vocal music at the middle or high school level is preferred. Experience in directing choirs or vocal ensembles is desirable.
  • Fingerprint/background screening required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Experience and willingness to coach athletics and/or be a faculty sponsor of activities preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION

The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. DUTIES

AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and deliver engaging vocal music lessons that focus on vocal technique, music theory, sight-reading, and performance skills.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive vocal music curriculum that includes a range of musical genres and styles. Plan and prepare for concerts, recitals, and other vocal performances.
  • Inspire and motivate students to develop their vocal skills and passion for music. Provide individual and group instruction tailored to different skill levels and abilities.
  • Evaluate student progress through auditions, performances, and assessments. Offer feedback and support to help students improve their vocal techniques and achieve their musical goals.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment. Implement effective classroom management strategies to support a focused and collaborative learning atmosphere.
  • Organize and lead school choirs, vocal ensembles, and other musical performances. Coordinate with other music educators and school staff to schedule and prepare for these events.
  • Stay current with best practices in vocal music education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming performances, and other music-related activities.
  • Work with colleagues to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and participate in school committees and events as needed.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to develop creative and innovative instruction that include best practices within the performing arts.
  • Cooperation with Building Administration, District Administration and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events.
  • May require some evening or weekend hours to accommodate school events, meetings, or activities.
