High School Language Arts Teacher

West Grand School District 1-Jt is looking for a passionate High School Language Arts Teacher to help students in grades 9-12 develop and flourish throughout the school year. Creating a classroom environment that develops in each student skills of listening, speaking reading and writing that are fundamental to effective communication and literate citizenship.

Qualifications:

• Must possess a Colorado Teacher License or be able to obtain one.
• Preferred secondary school teaching experience.
• Excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
• Proven problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions:

• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Ability to communicate in ways students will understand.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong communications, public relations and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates success in assisting English Language Learners to develop English oral proficiency and proficiency in reading and writing.
• Demonstrates success in working collaboratively with other professional staff on instructional improvements issues.
• Teaches content and skills in English language, literature, composition, reading, journalism to high school students.
• Adapts English material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge students.
• Knowledge of MTSS
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
