Requirements:

• Current valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement
• Prior teaching experience in vocal music at the middle or high school level is preferred
• Experience in directing choirs or vocal ensembles is desirable
• Fingerprint/background screening required
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• Experience and willingness to coach athletics and/or be a faculty sponsor of activities preferred

Job Description:

The following statements of essential functions and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engaging vocal music lessons that focus on vocal technique, music theory, sight-reading, and performance skills.
• Create and implement a comprehensive vocal music curriculum that includes a range of musical genres and styles.
• Plan and prepare for concerts, recitals, and other vocal performances.
• Inspire and motivate students to develop their vocal skills and passion for music.
• Provide individual and group instruction tailored to different skill levels and abilities.
• Evaluate student progress through auditions, performances, and assessments.
• Offer feedback and support to help students improve their vocal techniques and achieve their musical goals.
• Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
• Implement effective classroom management strategies to support a focused and collaborative learning atmosphere.
• Organize and lead school choirs, vocal ensembles, and other musical performances.
• Coordinate with other music educators and school staff to schedule and prepare for these events.
• Stay current with best practices in vocal music education and participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, upcoming performances, and other music-related activities.
• Work with colleagues to integrate music into interdisciplinary projects and participate in school committees and events as needed.
• Collaborates with colleagues to develop creative and innovative instruction that include best practices within the performing arts.
• Cooperation with Building Administration, District Administration and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

Work primarily takes place in a school setting, with occasional off-site meetings, trainings, or events. May require some evening or weekend hours to accommodate school events, meetings, or activities.

Terms of Employment: 181 day calendar
