Position: Middle School Spanish .5 FTE

Middle School Spanish Teacher

Homyak PK-8 School is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive Spanish teacher to serve students in grades 6-8. This position is designed to build on students' existing language skills by strengthening academic vocabulary, literacy, grammar, and formal communication in Spanish, while deepening their pride in cultural identity. Instruction should promote critical thinking, authentic communication, and meaningful connections to Hispanic and Latino history, literature, and contemporary issues.

The ideal candidate will create an inclusive classroom environment that values students' linguistic assets and fosters a strong sense of belonging. Responsibilities include planning engaging lessons aligned to Colorado Academic Standards for World Languages, using formative and summative assessments to monitor growth, collaborating with colleagues to support multilingual learners, and maintaining strong communication with families. The teacher will also contribute to the broader school community by supporting cultural events, promoting cross-curricular connections, and upholding Homyak PK-8 commitment to high expectations, positive relationships, and excellence for every student, every day.

Salary Range: $48,000 - $103,560. All verified years of relevant experience will be credited based on education and experience. This position may qualify for up to five additional steps on the certified salary schedule, depending on education and experience. Tuition reimbursement opportunities are available to support continued professional growth.

Qualifications for the Position:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Education with a Spanish endorsement/emphasis required.
  • Candidates with an Elementary Education endorsement will be considered if they have completed 24 semester hours in a Spanish or can pass the required Spanish content assessment to add the endorsement.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Teacher License with a Secondary ELA endorsement issued by the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards and state assessments, with the ability to implement data-driven instruction in a standards-based classroom.
  • Proven ability to promote student academic success; middle school Spanish experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration skills; experience with middle school teaming preferred.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in instructional technology preferred.
  • Coaching opportunities may be available.

Anticipated start date:
August 5, 2026. All employment contracts are subject to approval by the Board of Education. Direct deposit of payroll is required. The District maintains a smoke-free environment in all buildings.
