Nutrition Instructor
The Community College of Aurora is seeking an experienced Nutrition Instructor to join our team. The role includes teaching course content through online, in-person and/or hybrid modalities; preparing and delivering lessons and assessments aligned with course competencies; and evaluating student performance. The instructor maintains accurate course records, provides timely student support and feedback, and follows all Community College of Aurora (CCA) policies, departmental expectations, and instructional guidelines.
Course assignments may include dietary nutrition, human nutrition, and related health sciences coursework based on qualifications and credentialing.

Duties & Responsibilities:- Provide instruction for nutrition and related health science courses using approved curriculum and instructional methods that support course learning outcomes.
- Prepare and deliver lessons aligned with course competencies and student learning outcomes.
- Teach assigned courses in in-person, online, and/or hybrid modalities, as applicable.
- Clearly communicate course objectives, expectations, grading criteria, and academic requirements to students.
- Support student learning through timely feedback, academic guidance, and instructional support.
- Submit grades, no-shows, and required documentation by established deadlines.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices and emerging trends in nutrition, dietetics, health promotion, and related health sciences fields.
- Ensure instruction aligns with applicable course outcomes, transfer requirements, and departmental expectations.
- Follow all CCA and program guidelines related to instruction, documentation, student communication, and academic expectations.
- Participate in required meetings trainings, assessment activities, and instructional professional development activities as assigned.
- Collaborate with the Department Chair and Health Sciences team to support program quality and student success initiatives.
- Provide professional communication and maintain positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Human Nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution OR Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with a current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a Colorado State Career Technical Education Teaching Credential.
- Includes two (2) years/4,000 hours or equivalent of professional experience within the last 5 years.
- Relevant teaching or clinical experience in nutrition, dietetics, nursing, health sciences, or a related field.
- Experience teaching, training, or educating students, employees, patients, or community members in academic, clinical, or workplace settings.
- Strong communication, organizational, and instructional skills with the ability to build positive working relationships and support student success in inclusive learning environments.
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN/RD) credential and/or bachelor's or higher degree in Nutrition or Dietetics.
- Experience teaching nutrition in higher education, concurrent enrollment, or workforce training settings.
- Experience teaching in online, hybrid, and/or in-person learning environments including use of Learning Management Systems (LMS).
Salary Range:
The starting rate is $1,178.00 per credit hour taught.
