Oak Hill is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Assistant (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). provide hands‑on classroom support to individuals with Developmental and other Disabilities. The Assistant Teacher works at Oak Hill’s Bristol, CT classroom for 35 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. The AT supports Special Education Teachers in the classroom, helps prepare lessons, teaches students, and provides direct support. The AT assists with behavior management during lessons, tracks students’ behavior, and sets up classroom materials before class as assigned.

Minimum Requirements- High school diploma or GED
- At least age 18
- Valid driver’s license
- Public Service license with a V endorsement (required during the initial employment period and facilitated through Oak Hill)
- Acceptable driving record

Under the direct supervision of the Special Education Teacher:
- Assists students in achieving social and academic development
- Reinforces lessons by reviewing material one‑on‑one and in small groups
- Fosters student engagement and creates a supportive learning environment
- Models appropriate behaviors to help students develop social skills
- Encourages student independence and implements prescribed behavioral management plans
- Assists students in learning self‑care techniques, including toileting, personal hygiene, eating, dressing, and other personal care tasks
- Assists with ongoing observation and documentation
- Helps maintain records for student progress and program development
- Prepares materials and equipment to support teachers’ class preparation
- Supervises students during lunch, breaks, between classes, and on field trips
- Transports students on field trips
- Provides additional help to students who need assistance learning specific concepts
