Purpose of Job

Assist the Principal/Assistant Principal in managing the school, providing on‑site direct support to staff and students, overseeing student discipline, and fostering positive relationships. The Dean may assume the duties of the Principal or Assistant Principal in their absence.

Essential Functions, Duties and Major Accountabilities
  • Maintain a regular on‑site presence to support students and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Provide leadership, direction, supervision, operations, and accountability of academic and non‑academic duties of school personnel.
  • Collaborate with school leadership for efficient operation of facilities and programs.
  • Serve as an instructional leader, monitoring professional development and instructional efforts per the school improvement plan.
  • Implement and monitor metrics for behavioral expectations, attendance trends, and truancy interventions; address safety and welfare issues.
  • Collect and analyze data from assessments to develop interventions for academic improvement.
  • Lead staff in data analysis, results, and goal planning.
  • Comply with FERPA and other privacy and reporting laws.
  • Model a variety of instructional strategies designed to be rigorous and mirror assessment.
  • Perform indirect supervision of employees, including assigning and directing work, interviewing, evaluating performance, disciplining, and resolving issues.
  • Mentor new teachers and assist in their orientation.
  • Assist with parent conferences and related personnel regarding attendance or disciplinary problems.
  • Coordinate support services to ensure student progress toward graduation requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Must reside in Colorado.
  • Must possess a driver’s license.
Education
  • Required:

    Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Management, or a related field.
  • Preferred:
    Master’s degree.
  • Preferred:
    Valid Colorado Principal’s License.
Experience
  • Required:

    Two years of experience as a secondary teacher, secondary counselor, or equivalent.
  • Preferred:
    Two years of experience working online and/or with at‑risk youth.
  • Preferred:
    Three years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a school.
Alternative Background
  • Advanced knowledge of school leadership within a blended/online school.
  • Prior experience overseeing standardized testing procedures.
  • Advanced abilities working with at‑risk students, web‑based instructional approaches, and/or alternative educational programs.
  • Well‑versed in conflict resolution, mediating conflicts among students, staff, parents, or community members.
  • Commitment to continuous professional learning.
Physical Requirements
  • Seldom:
    Cold ≤50°F or Heat ≥90°F; gases/fumes; heights; climbing; crawling; kneeling; bending; walking on uneven surfaces; chemicals/solvents; travel (national or international); lifting over 30lbs.
  • Occasional:
    Noise; working alone; local travel; visual acuity (far); color discrimination; lifting over 20lbs.
  • Frequent:
