Licensed Substitute

Salary: $155.00/full day & $77.50/half day (4 hours or less) There are opportunities to gain additional compensation

Summary of Position:
Your services as substitutes are critical to maintaining the educational progress of students and helping the district fulfill its mission of educating and preparing each student to succeed in a changing world. Substitute teachers replace regular teachers for a short period of time, sometimes for long periods of time. They ensure that the lesson plans are followed along while maintaining a safe, productive learning environment in the absence of the teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow the lesson plans left by the teacher
• Assist students with their learning; including explaining, guiding and supporting them
• Maintain classroom discipline and carry on the classroom procedures
• Minimize distractions to maintain a positive learning environment
• Encourage classroom participation
• Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and cafeteria
• Assist with duties and additional responsibilities
• All other duties as assigned

Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree is preferred
• Must hold a current Colorado Teaching License or a 1, 3, or 5 year substitute Authorization

Experience:

Prior experience working with children preferred

• Report to the school office following the scheduled time in Absence Management
• Ability to carry out lesson plans and adapt as needed

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 5 to 25 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Special Education may require the ability to exert more than 25 pounds. This type of work involves sitting, walking, and/or standing.

Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Additional Requirement:
Work a minimum of 10 days during the school year (August - May)
