Job Description
Full‑time faculty positions begin in August 2026 with a 30‑credit‑hour (170‑day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.
CMC is seeking an experienced EMS professional and dynamic educator to be the lead instructor in the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Program for the Aspen and Carbondale campuses. Primary teaching duties include EMT‑B, EMT‑B Refresher, and IV/IO therapy, with an expansion to Advanced EMT, Paramedic EMT Labs, and/or Refreshers as needed. The successful candidate will strengthen partnerships with local employers such as hospitals, health‑care agencies, and ski areas, recruit, train, and schedule EMT Skills Assistant staff and adjunct faculty, maintain supplies, coordinate testing and state documentation, assist with student record collection for clinical experiences, and identify local opportunities for clinical partnerships in collaboration with the college‑wide Clinical and Contract Specialist.
With reassignment time granted, this faculty position serves as a campus Program Lead and includes curricular oversight in coordination with the Dean of Allied Health, Public Safety, and Outdoor Studies. The role also acts as the faculty leader and reporting liaison to the Associate Dean of Public Safety Programs.
Teaching Responsibilities- Teach assigned course load
- Evaluate courses and assess student learning
- Meet established course, program, and institutional learning outcomes
- Comply with department guidelines and college policies
- Maintain at least five office hours per week to meet with students
- Develop rapport with students that is professional and encourages communication
- Assist with academic advising of students
- Participate in orientation and registration activities
- Coordinate program instruction, travel, and record management (immunization, background checks, fingerprints, partnership orientation)
- Plan classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning experiences and confirm written agreements with outside providers of clinical resources
- Maintain a system of permanent records and reports essential to program operation
- Assist with on‑site direct supervision of clinical partners
- Engage in service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentor peers, and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting, and retention
- Credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed
- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited college/university and 4,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience in the past five years (or a Bachelor’s degree with 2,000 hours of verified, paid EMS work experience)
- Prior teaching/training in a directly related field preferred
- Current Colorado Paramedic certificate or license required (or able to obtain prior to class start)
- AHA BLS Instructor preferred
- Experience with wilderness medicine or remote EMS care is a plus
- Successful completion of an EMS Instructor Course with Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Division of EMS Administration or National Association of EMS Educators (or completion within the provisional period of the position)
- Fluency in English;
Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred - Resident of the State of Colorado and authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Compensation and BenefitsSalary range: $79,902.51 – $97,321.19 annual salary, depending on education and experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and pet insurance, retirement contribution, tuition reimbursement, annual and sick leave, mental health resources, healthy lifestyle benefits, and potential transitional housing and relocation assistance. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
