High School Marching Band Assistant
Grand Valley High School is seeking applications of candidates for Marching Band Assistant for Fall 2026. This is a part-time, seasonal, salaried position located in Parachute, CO. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the effective organization and management of the high school marching band program, including rehearsals, performances, competitions, scheduling, planning, equipment, uniforms, safety, and other program activities.
- Assist the Head Band Director with instructional and rehearsal strategies, demonstrating knowledge and skills related to marching band, music education, marching fundamentals, physical conditioning, and performance preparation.
- Establish positive communication and build strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, staff, school administration, and the community.
- Support students in achieving academic success and maintaining eligibility while encouraging responsibility, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.
- Demonstrate a genuine commitment to Grand Valley High School's philosophies, students, staff, music program, and surrounding community.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a positive band culture that promotes musical and intellectual development, leadership, teamwork, productive citizenship, confidence, discipline, and personal wellness.
- Assist with marching band competitions, football game performances, parades, concerts, and other school or community events as assigned.
- Help maintain and organize band equipment, instruments, uniforms, music, props, and other program materials.
- Promote a safe, respectful, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all participating students.
Desired qualifications:
- One to three years of experience working with a high school or middle school marching band, music program, or similar student performance program preferred.
- Skills related to music instruction, marching fundamentals, teaching, mentoring, leadership, and student development.
- Knowledge of marching band rehearsal and performance practices, including marching technique, formations, music preparation, and field performance.
- Ability to assist with student safety, physical conditioning, injury prevention, and appropriate response to student health or safety concerns during rehearsals and performances.
- Experience with marching band competitions, football game performances, parades, or similar events preferred.
- Teaching credentials, music education experience, or relevant musical experience preferred.
