Maintenance Curriculum Developer/Trainer

The Maintenance & Operations Training Services Unit in the Division of Maintenance and Operations is responsible for the education and training of 1,800 full-time maintenance employees working both in the Division of Maintenance & Operations and in the five Regions Maintenance Section of CDOT. The Training Services Unit oversees the following:

• Maintenance & Operations Training Services
• Office of Emergency Management
• Transportation Incident Management
• National Highway Institute – Maintenance Leadership Academy
• Supervisor Leadership Academy
• Regional-based maintenance and operations training programs statewide

The Maintenance Curriculum Developer/Trainer position is a curriculum development, training program management, and training delivery role. This position is a staff authority on maintenance training developing and advising on curriculum and training implementation for technical and leadership training through the Division of Maintenance & Operations. This position actively participates as part of a training team that works collaboratively on a daily basis.

The Maintenance Curriculum Trainer positiona versatile, experienced curriculum developer and trainer who can train on multiple topics and get up to speed quickly on new topics. This position will collaborate with the other technical and leadership trainers to continuously improve course content and research other training formats. This position must be a team player in all ways who brings new, innovative ideas to the table and who learns from the other team members to improve their own training capabilities.

The Maintenance Curriculum Developer/Trainer assess training needs, develops curricula to meet those needs, delivers training, and evaluates the effectiveness of training based on measurable outcomes. Lastly, this position manages the design, development and implementation of all Maintenance and Operation Training Services training programs for highway maintenance, highway foremans and specialty areas: mechanics, electricians, bridge/welding certification, traffic services and fiber optics.

Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Collaborate with coworkers, supervisor, guest course instructors, and various stakeholders to continuously improve course content and evaluate training formats;
• Evaluate and identify training and development needs and objectives;
• Develop curricula to meet new training needs and objectives, including designing, developing and revising course content;
• Measure training program effectiveness and modify course content, delivery method, etc. to ensure training needs are met;
• Identify changes and updates in training needs due to changes in strategic goals, policy, statistics, and applicability through continuing communication with employees, management, and business partners;
• Create, update and manage all learning materials for participants;
• Manage training projects as assigned, such as leading the efforts to plan, organize and schedule National Highway Institute (NHI) training;
• Develop program delivery schedules;
• Develop and manage appropriate filing systems to maintain employee and work unit records;
