At Garfield County Public Library District, we see youth services as an opportunity to build connections, spark curiosity, and help young people discover the joy of reading and libraries. We're looking for a Youth Services Coordinator who brings creativity, initiative, and a genuine commitment to serving children, tweens, and families.

The Carbondale Branch Library is seeking a collaborative professional to lead and develop engaging youth services for children and teens aged 0 to 18, emphasizing early literacy, elementary-age children, and tweens. This position combines programming, community engagement, collection maintenance, and relationship-building to create welcoming and meaningful experiences for young people and their caregivers.

The Youth Services Coordinator will be an important part of the Carbondale team, planning and delivering services alongside other team members that respond to the needs and interests of the community. The position also builds connections with schools, families, community organizations, and colleagues throughout the District. We're looking for someone who communicates openly, shares ideas generously, supports their coworkers, and takes an active role in creating a positive, collaborative branch culture.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range - actual placement dependent on experience and qualifications:

  • Hiring salary range (MLIS): $27.73 - $30.57/hr; full salary range: $27.73 - $35.39/hr

  • Hiring salary range (non-MLIS): $25.75 - $28.39
    ; full salary range: $25.75 – $32.86/hr
    ;
  • Stipend for Spanish proficiency, eligible after assessment following a minimum of 60 days

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least four years of experience educating children or working in youth development programs or initiatives.

Preferred:

  • Library experience.
  • Experience working with teens.
  • MLS or MLIS degree.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or another language.
