21st Century Programming Student Intern

The 21st Century Grant is running a program for elementary and middle school students in grades K-8. This program is specifically for students who are Spanish speakers (first language is Spanish, bilingual, English language learners) to learn how to read and write in Spanish and refine their spoken language. Students will also learn about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assist with Spanish language instruction and activities for students learning to read, write, and communicate in Spanish.
• Support students in developing their understanding of the cultures and traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.
• Monitor and supervise students in grades K through 8 participating in the 21st Century Grant Program.
• Assist students with homework, classroom activities, and other assigned learning activities.
• Encourage positive behavior and assist students with age-appropriate conflict resolution strategies.
• Help ensure students use equipment, materials, and supplies appropriately and safely.
• Communicate student behavior or safety concerns to the program supervisor.
• Follow the direction of the 21st Century Grant Program supervisor and other assigned staff.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.
• Complete other duties as assigned that are appropriate for a student intern.

• Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding student information.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must be proficient in both Spanish and English, including reading, writing, and speaking skills.
• Must successfully complete a required background check.
• Must be enrolled in high school or an approved educational program.
• Interest in working with children and supporting their educational development.
