Job Title: Middle School Substitute Teacher FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports To: K-8 Principal & Assistant Principal Days per Year:27 (Approximately August 22-October
2)

Job Location: Highland High School Hours per Week:40+

Summary: Middle School Teachers are responsible for instructing students in grades 6-8. They create lesson plans and a well-rounded, comprehensive instructional program. This assignment lasts from approximately September 21, 2026 to December 17, 2026.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and provide high quality instruction
• Implementing curriculum and instructions that align to the Colorado Academic Standards
• Monitor and evaluate student progress
• Prepare educational records and reports
• Analyze student data and differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs
• Conduct classroom and standardized assessments to measure student growth
• Teach extended learning opportunity mini-courses
• Any and all other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum of a 1 year substitute teaching license from the Colorado Department of Education, or ability to obtain one, is required.
• Bachelor's Degree with a teaching certification is preferred, but not required
• Endorsement, certification, degree, passing PRAXIS score, or being highly qualified in area of instruction is preferred, but not required

Salary and Benefits:

Salary: $140 per day. The district offers substitutes leave at the rate of 1 hour per every 30 hours worked under the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA).
