Position Specific

Description:

This is a stationary wind position in Flagler, CO. Join Next Era Energy's Power Generation Team and become a Wind Technician at Next Era Energy. As a Wind Technician, you will be on the critical front-line to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm site operations. You will primarily focus on the safe execution of field-based equipment maintenance and diagnostics, as well as the long-term reliability and profitability of the equipment.

Additional duties may include:

  • Executing Safety Management System procedures and instructions
  • Conducting field work in compliance with OSHA applicable regulations
  • Encouraging good employee safety practices and driving an unparalleled employee safety culture
  • Working outdoors and at heights inside and outside of the elements
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining electrical components like relays, breakers, contractors, cards and/or hardware of that nature
  • Troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical components like motors, gear drives and/or anything mechanical in nature
  • Performing routine annual preventative maintenance of wind turbine components
  • Operating the tablet that is provided to each technician
  • Collaborating closely with internal Next Era users to develop and implement operation focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance
  • Recruiting and developing other technicians for the ongoing development of team
  • Supporting site manager for all phases of timely safety and environmental reporting, maintenance, financial reporting, and turbine availability
  • Presenting a positive professional representation of Next Era Energy in the community and with the customer
  • Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects
  • Active participation in the career development and Partners in Performance programs driving the annual merit & incentives rewards

Job Overview:
Employees in this role perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and other associated equipment. Individuals understand the mechanics, including both electrical and maintenance of hydraulics, of all wind turbine components. This position replaces mechanical and electrical components, understands schematics and uses appropriate diagnostic tools. The successful candidate will interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in the computer database, and monitor turbine performance and SCADA systems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Under direct supervision:

  • Performs regular preventative maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment
  • Completes electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Maintains all company supplied equipment, facilities and tooling
  • Applies basic understanding of the technical and process functions
  • Manages own training schedules and meets all training requirements within designated time frames
  • Able to meet attendance requirements
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Experience:

    0+ years
  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)
  • Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet
  • Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree

The base pay range for this position is $24.62 to $36.92 per hour. This range represents the expected base pay for a successful candidate and is based on a variety of factors, including skills, experience, and internal equity. Employee Group:
