ABOUT

THE ROLE

As the Facilities Director at Biofire, you will play a pivotal role in scaling and operating our physical footprint in Broomfield, Colorado, overseeing facilities expansion, construction, operations, maintenance, and repair across offices, engineering labs, light manufacturing, warehousing, and firearms test and evaluation spaces. We are looking for someone who is experienced in managing complex, multi-building campuses and facilities services to contribute to our Operations organization and help enable Biofire’s growth from low-rate initial production to mass production.

To succeed, you will need to be able to provide reliable, secure, and scalable facilities and infrastructure that support engineering, manufacturing, and testing activities. You will need to be a hands‑on, systems‑oriented leader who is eager to solve the challenge of building and maintaining facilities that safely and efficiently support a rapidly growing hardware company with regulated testing environments. If you’re excited about helping to solve critical challenges and creating infrastructure that materially improves firearms safety, we encourage you to apply.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Design and execute a comprehensive facilities management program that supports office, engineering, manufacturing and test and evaluation operations;

  • Using inputs from Manufacturing Engineering, lead the identification, acquisition, outfitting and acceptance and commissioning of Biofire’s new manufacturing facility (Armory
    1);

  • Evaluate existing operations and identify facilities operations requiring contract support / in‑house expertise;

  • For outsourced facilities services, develop Requests for Proposal (RFPs), negotiate contracts and manage third‑party vendors for facility operations and maintenance services;

  • For in‑house facilities services, recruit, lead and develop a high‑performing team of maintenance technicians. Set a clear vision, define ambitious goals, and foster a culture of accountability, innovation and technical excellence;

  • Establish proactive maintenance schedules for critical infrastructure – both facility and manufacturing infrastructure – with the goal of minimizing downtime and extending asset lifespans;

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for Biofire facilities. Analyze data and KPIs to identify trends, generate insights, and implement process improvements;

  • Manage budgets for facilities operations, maintenance and vendor contracts;

  • Ensure all facilities comply with local regulations, environmental health and safety…
