Senior Electrical Engineer

- -The Gogo Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical design, validation and testing of embedded inflight entertainment and telecommunications system products. The engineer needs to be able to independently create and design at a high-quality using engineering fundamentals and technical concepts while following our robust design process.

This position is responsible for working as part of a tightly integrated development team, development and testing of digital, analog, and RF hardware and developing functional test methods. Additional responsibilities include schematic/layout activities, board bring up, verification/validation testing, technical documentation, failure analysis, and sustainment activities of current circuits and systems.

How will you make a difference?

Schematic capture (Cadence OrCAD) and prototype bring up of embedded hardware designs including x86, ARM, and FPGA’sComponent selection and Bill of Material management from design to new product introduction and sustaining support

PSOC or low-power microcontroller coding experience

Experience with high-speed, power supply, and power input protection circuitry design for aviation or aerospace hardware

Design and review of schematic capture and PCB layout activities

Design, bring up, and test of embedded circuits including processors, onboard DDR memory, RF circuits, and other peripheral IO interfaces

Development, execution and documentation of verification, validation and stress testing of electrical hardware consisting of ethernet, USB, aircraft interfaces, PC/embedded system components and proprietary microcomputers and devices

Design of system hardware to meet RTCA DO-160 and DO-254

Ability to identify and effectively troubleshoot combined Hardware/RF/Firmware/Software problems and implement appropriate corrections

Collaborate effectively in a small team environment. Be a key contributor to the hardware/software design from early prototype development to release of product, including:

Specification, requirements, & design reviews

Board and system level bring up, testing and debug

Qualification and certification testing (DO-160, DO-254, FCC)
Develop and support hardware test methodologies for in-house operations

Electrical component release and BOM management using PLM systems

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Engineering , or equivalent experience6+ years of rugged hardware and/or avionics experience, circuit design and simulation experience

Required Skills, Talents, & Experience Familiarity of PC architecture , interfaces , and peripherals

Has worked with lab equipment for design and troubleshooting exercises, including Oscilloscopes , DMM , Programmable power supplies , and spectrum analyzers

Experience with Linux and Windows operating system environments

Preferred Skills, Talents, & Experience Avionics industry, DO-160 , or MIL-STD design experience

DO-254 process for embedded hardware experience

PSOC or l ow-power microcontroller coding experience

Proficiency with Microsoft software tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Coding and/or scripting experience
