Particle Measuring Systems is a global leader in micro‑contamination monitoring equipment, supporting clean manufacturing in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries.
The RoleThe Automation Projects Engineer I works field‑based, installing and validating automation systems at customer sites, primarily within the pharmaceutical sector. The position is an entry‑level opportunity for engineers or seasoned technicians (HVAC/Electrical) transitioning into pharmaceutical automation.
Job Responsibilities- Install hardware for automation systems at customer sites, including rack mounting of components.
- Perform field wiring and infrastructure tasks:
Ethernet cables, vacuum tubing, 24
VDC signal wiring. - Conduct on‑site portable particle counter validations at pharmaceutical facilities.
- Apply Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during all validation and installation tasks.
- Travel to customer sites (primarily pharmaceutical companies) up to 75% of the time during peak project periods.
- Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Pursuing a degree in Automation Engineering or a related technical field.
- 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience (including Electrician or HVAC experience).
- Strong knowledge of basic electrical systems (24
VDC), networking infrastructure (Ethernet), and mechanical mounting. - Willingness to learn regulated industry standards (GMP/GDP).
- Completed degree in Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in pharmaceutical industry environments, cleanroom protocols, or particle counter equipment.
- Practical field work in electrical installations or HVAC systems.
- Experience troubleshooting complex automation hardware setups in the field.
Physical Requirements
- Office environment with occasional on‑site visits; must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
- Availability to travel up to 75% during peak times.
- Manual dexterity required for hands‑on installation work.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required.

- Competitive base salary range: $67,100 – $100,700 (depending on experience).
