As a Laser Technician at Arete, you will be responsible for building and aligning AIRTRAC lasers, which requires assembling optical components and handling/cleaning optics. You will work with a team of scientists, engineers, and technicians to design, develop, test, and produce lasers. Your duties include fine-tuning and alignment of optical components and lasers, and you will contribute to building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying developmental and production electronic and optical systems, independently or under direction from an electrical or optical engineer.
You will set up and use complex optical equipment independently or under an optical engineer, and conduct optical measurements and testing to support laser alignment, fabrication, and performance measurements. This position is based in our Niwot, CO office. This is a non-exempt, non-supervisory, full-time role.
- Build and align AIRTRAC lasers and optical assemblies.
- Handle and clean optics; mount optics with epoxies as required.
- Fine-tune and align optical components and lasers.
- Build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic and optical systems, independently or with guidance from engineers.
- Set up and use complex optical equipment; conduct optical measurements and testing to support laser alignment, fabrication, and performance evaluations.
- Familiarity with electronic and optical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power meters, optical sensors, spectrometers, cameras, lasers, and detectors.
- Ability to produce professional documentation and thoroughly document setups and test results.
- AA/AS in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline and 3 years of related experience. Significant relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Less experience will be required with a 4-year degree in Engineering or Physics.

The salary range for this role is $70,000 to $90,000. Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including position responsibilities, work experience, education/training, and key skills.
