Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician
WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Wastewater Treatment Plant Technician to join the team at our Blackhawk, CO plant. Be involved in projects with our Mining Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant facilities, pumps, blowers, engines, motors, chemical feed systems, filters, valves, pipes, air compressors, heating/cooling equipment, aeration equipment, mixers, boilers, generators, and other major mechanical and hydraulic equipment found in a water or wastewater treatment facility.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mobile equipment including a skid steer and a light truck.
- Operate skid steer to perform grounds maintenance, including snow removal on a seasonal basis.
- Assist the operations staff with logging process variables, making process changes, troubleshooting equipment failures, and accessing site sampling locations.
- Manage the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) database with the assistance of the site manager.
- Coordinate and assist maintenance subcontractors and equipment inspectors.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of parts and tools onsite.
- Read and understand equipment drawings, datasheets, and assembly information.
- Working knowledge of electrical equipment and safety.
- Monitor facilities and equipment to identify and repair leaks and other malfunctions.
- Identify and diagnose treatment plant equipment and controls failures
- Install and perform preventive maintenance on plant process instrumentation including pH probes, turbidity and flow meters.
- Models safe work practices and provides leadership in achieving safety goals.
- Order parts for repairs according to equipment bills of material.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one year in a similar maintenance position at a warehouse, production facility, or a Public Works.
- Ability to obtain a 40-hour OSHA HazWOPER certificate or have a current certificate.
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
- Ability to operate heavy mobile, construction type equipment.
- Possess a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Good understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality guidelines, procedures, and safe work procedures.
- Experience preparing safety documentation; JHEA's, work permits, for "High Risk/Non-Routine Work" when required.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues/problems on a proactive basis
- Previous work with SCADA control systems.
- Basic understanding of pneumatic controls.
- Working knowledge of electrical equipment and safety procedures
- Ability to complete shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays, as necessary (shifts are 12-hours per day).
- Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication abilities, both verbally and in writing, conveying ideas in a clear and professional manner
- Demonstrates self-leadership, attention to detail, a willingness to learn new skills, ability to multitask, follow instructions, and adhere to company policies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in working both independently and on teams while adhering to supervisory guidance, and effectively collaborates as a team member to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds several times per day.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs and on unimproved areas of the site several times per day.
- This role is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of this policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating a skid steer, specifically snow removal around buildings and handling pallets.
- Experience with Maintenance Connection CMMS.
- Experience with maintenance resource planning and predictive maintenance concepts.
- Additional experience in Environmental Science, Water Quality, Water Treatment or as a Wastewater Operator is highly desired.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
- Job sites may be located at various elevations, including mountain environments at elevations above 8,000 feet, depending on the site
- Exposure to differing temperatures levels, including extreme heat and extreme cold, snowy conditions
