Quantum Computing Hardware Documentation Engineer
We are looking for two experienced engineers to turn emerging quantum computing hardware concepts into controlled, manufacturing-ready product documentation for systems. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for professionals who excel at bringing order to evolving electromechanical designs, ensuring product structures, release records, and build packages are complete, accurate, and ready for production.
In this role, you will work closely with technical and manufacturing partners to convert prototype and first-article hardware into fully documented assemblies that support procurement, fabrication, installation, and long-term lifecycle management.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain complete documentation sets that support fabrication, assembly, installation, and ongoing product support for complex hardware systems.
- Prepare and release controlled engineering records, including drawings, bills of materials, work instructions, and related product data needed for manufacturing readiness.
- Develop and update 3D models and detailed assemblies in CAD, with an emphasis on rack-mounted electromechanical equipment and enclosure integration.
- Oversee revision tracking, product release activities, and configuration control to keep design data accurate throughout the hardware lifecycle.
- Create structured product records within PLM tools and help establish clear, production-ready documentation for internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers, scientists, technicians, and manufacturers to resolve open design details and close documentation gaps.
- Support prototype, first-article, and production builds by improving document clarity, manufacturability, and assembly flow.
- Apply design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly principles when refining hardware packages for procurement and build execution.
- Capture cable routing, packaging details, and system-level integration requirements to ensure reliable rack-level installation and assembly.
