The Grid Integration Engineering Advisor will support wind, solar, and BESS assets across the U.S. and Canada and can be based in Houston, TX or Broomfield, CO.

In this role, you will lead a range of activities related to dynamic and transient power system modeling, power system studies, and compliance with interconnection requirements for wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. Responsibilities include managing dynamic simulation models and associated documentation, implementing interconnection and grid code requirements into plant designs, collaborating closely with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and external consultants, and leading power system studies to support ENGIE’s North America Renewables portfolio throughout the project lifecycle.

What

You Will Do
  • Lead the development, validation, maintenance, and governance of dynamic simulation models (PSCAD, PSS®E, TSAT) for wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) assets in partnership with OEMs and external engineering consultants
  • Manage power system and interconnection studies throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring technical compliance with grid requirements and supporting the implementation of study recommendations into plant design and field execution
  • Serve as the Grid Integration Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing technical leadership on inverter-based resource (I ) performance, voltage and frequency ride-through capabilities, reactive power requirements, and plant-level control systems
  • Partner with Engineering, Development, Operations, OEMs, utilities, and external stakeholders to support interconnection activities and resolve complex grid integration challenges
  • Develop, enhance, and standardize engineering processes, modeling practices, and technical requirements to ensure conformance with evolving interconnection, reliability, and grid code standards
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory and industry developments, including NERC Reliability Standards, ISO/RTO and transmission provider requirements, AGIR guidance, and applicable IEEE standards, translating changes into actionable business requirements
  • Lead assigned projects and technical initiatives, ensuring deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with ENGIE's quality, operational, and performance objectives
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Power, Energy, Mechanical, Civil, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline)
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible engineering experience, including at least three (3) years supporting NERC Reliability Standards
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing dynamic simulation models using PSCAD, PSS®E, TSAT, or similar power system analysis tools for renewable energy and energy storage projects
  • Experience leading power system, transient stability, and interconnection studies, including translating study findings into engineering solutions and operational improvements
  • Advanced knowledge of grid integration requirements for inverter-based resources, including voltage and frequency ride-through, reactive power capability, plant controls, and compliance with interconnection requirements
  • Experience developing, implementing, and continuously improving engineering standards, technical specifications, and business processes within a regulated utility, power generation, or renewable energy environment
  • Knowledge of NERC, ISO/RTO, transmission provider, and AGIR requirements, as well as industry standards such as IEEE 2800 and related emerging grid integration frameworks
