Certified Principal Engineer (CPE)
Lockheed Martin is seeking a senior or mid-career Engineer to serve as a Certified Principal Engineer (CPE) for a high-performance system. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing production readiness, ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards, and driving continuous-improvement initiatives for the design. This role will collaborate closely internally as well as with industry partner teams to translate system requirements into manufacturable solutions while maintaining traceability and configuration control.
Location:
This position does not support teleworking; you will be located near our Lockheed Martin Space facility and be expected to work a flexible 9x80 schedule in the office full-time.
Key Activities You Will Accomplish In This Role:
- Digital products include digital processing, software defined radio, command & data handling, controls & avionics, and any other digital systems that are utilized on Lockheed Martin space or missile systems.
- The critical skills utilized in this role will include experience in FPGA and/or ASIC design, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) design, Embedded Software, FPGA Gateware, Systems Engineering/Requirements Management, Systems Integration & Test, Guidance Navigation & Control, and Electrical Engineering.
To Be Effective In This Role, You Will Need:
- Experience in a Responsible Engineer / Product Lead role for analog and digital electronics.
- Experience working with Subcontractors and sub-tier suppliers.
- Familiarity with other engineering processes, disciplines and Subject Matter Experts.
- Familiarity with processes on failure investigation (root cause analysis, Failure Review Boards, etc.).
- Experience supporting the technical evaluation of design and requirements verification.
- Experience in different phases of aerospace electronic component development cycle.
- Experience interacting with peers, management and government customers.
- Proficiency in presentations and in written communications.
- 5+ years professional experience
Basic Qualifications:
- Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering concepts and processes
- Experience in leading a team, accomplishing both strategic objectives and execution of programs
- Experience with vehicle or subsystem design, test and integration
Desired
Skills:
- Certification and training as Responsible Engineer, or equivalent
- Ability to build key relationships across organizations internally within LM and externally with government customers to achieve organizational and program goals
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills coupled with strong interpersonal team building skills to effectively engage team members as well as elevate appropriate issues to management
- Experience writing requirements specification and Interface documents
- Experience working in a lab environment, familiar with troubleshooting tools and troubleshooting mindset
- Proficiency with MS Office Products
- Team player with demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate and coordinate work as one team with common goals
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
Pay Information:
