Sturgeon Electric Company is seeking a Sr. Estimator to lead electrical construction estimating for transmission, distribution, substation, and commercial projects. This role prepares detailed cost estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid proposals from plans and specifications, evaluates subcontractor and vendor quotes, and collaborates with project management, engineering, and field teams. The Sr. Estimator analyzes risk, value-engineering options, and constructability, supports bid strategy and presentations, and helps develop junior estimators while promoting Sturgeon Electric's strong safety and quality culture on every project.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical construction cost estimates and quantity takeoffs
- Review drawings, specifications, and addenda to define project scope
- Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Develop complete bid proposals, pricing summaries, and clarifications
- Analyze project risks, value-engineering options, and constructability
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, and field teams on bid strategy
- Support client presentations and respond to pre-bid and post-bid inquiries
- Maintain historical cost data, unit prices, and estimating tools
- Mentor and support junior estimators in best practices
- Ensure estimates align with company safety, quality, and compliance standards
